My dreams of the future….

Passions…

Time and time again we have all heard the statements telling us, and now considering being a parent, telling our children… that if you want to succeed in life, in a happy, profitable way, that we need to follow our passions. Statements and memes reminding us that if we find our purpose in life, we will never work a day in our lives. I have been lucky to pursue a career young enough and stuck with it long enough, that for many years it sustained my life with my family. But, I always felt like I wanted more… So… what happens when in your life you have several dreams…several passions… and at times the confidence to think you can conquer them all?? Enter Anita Campo.

Some people may consider it wishy-washy… others may think I am all over the place and never satisfied, but I only believe that I can have these dreams IF I decide to pursue them. Being a creative and having some form of ADD it ‘s hard to focus at times…. but challenging myself keeps me alive. When I satisfy the cravings that I experience after allowing myself to sink myself into a passion the minutes become hours and I actually never feel like I am working but more like I’m an extension of myself. Photography does this for me and I one day hope to pursue it as much more than a hobby. What tips do you have for keeping those flames alive inside you and also reflecting and knowing what your passions are?  Some people go through their whole lives settling and never taking that leap….never jumping because they want to be safe. Is safe the right way to go? Does getting older command being safe because it’s the adult thing to do?? Are you doing yourself and injustice by not finding what makes you tick, what makes you feel alive?? I feel like I will one day be lucky enough to say I have no regrets. Can you say the same?

When you try, and you fail….

Believe me, I have tried some things, that at the time, I had romanticized them to make myself feel that it would be the perfect fit. I went as far as thinking because of being a foodie and being enthralled with great restaurants, and food and because I can be a great salesman that selling and peddling Truffles for a living was going to be my dream job… NOT. Great career for the right person…but not for me. As you go through life, you have to be aware of what does work and what doesn’t. I know now at 51 that whatever I choose to do I HAVE to be challenged and it HAS to have a creative outlet for me. I am a people person and truly believe that our society forgets to capture our strengths and instead magnifies our weaknesses. Capitalize on your STRENGTHS and do not be afraid to try new things and fail… it is part of learning. If you fall, 8 times get up 9… Like Nike’s ad campaign…JUST DO IT. As Gary Vaynerchuk would say, “Whether you’re 9 or 90, stop trying to fix the things you’re bad at, and focus on the things you’re good at.” and my favorite one…“A penguin cannot become a giraffe, so just be the best penguin you can be.”!! Gary Vaynerchuk or Gary Vee as he is known by many is a media and sales guru, but what Gary does that most other people don’t is he is raw and real and gives back. Follow him on social media, and you will have a no holds barred positivity coach holding you accountable. But don’t be fooled, what makes Gary the happiest is….. EXECUTION. So just go do it!!! Write that blog, change that job, create that business and don’t look back…JUMP! Be vulnerable try it….what do you have to lose?

My happy ending….

So at 51 what dream do I ponder but not talk about much? What dream do I hope to one day obtain but don’t sometimes know where to start? What dream do I KNOW I can be good at but sometimes feel it may just not be attainable? Guess—-na….here it is… I want to own and run a 5-star Bed & Breakfast. The dream consists of a house with 3-5 rooms in a beautiful setting, lush and green with possible water nearby. Exclusive and reclusive where guests can totally embrace nature or stay in their rooms and embrace their amenities to get away from it all…while all along having the best food and decor and a friendly face to talk with and share who they are. I can picture this place and really see it in my mind’s eye. I can run through scenarios of meeting people from all over the world and being booked for months in advance. My curiosity is always piqued when I allow this dream to surface and the enchanting scenarios I weave in my head keep me believing that someday it could happen. The conundrum I am faced with always is time and money, but that’s what dreams are for…right?— To think they can occur. I will always shoot for the stars who knows where I may land.
